Our 75th Parish Anniversary Celebration Weekend marked the beginning of our 75th year as a parish in Bolivar, MO.   Our church was originally located on Main St in Bolivar, and moved to our current location in 1958. In 1963, St. Wenceslaus of Karlin, MO, merged with Sacred Heart in Bolivar.  Together as a community, we have celebrated 75 years! On Friday, we began our celebrations on the Feast Day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  As a parish we are dedicated to the patronage of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We began our celebrations with Evening Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours.  Our plans for the evening were abruptly interrupted by quite the thunderstorm, but it didn’t stop us from visiting and connecting with each other as the storm passed.  (We will be rescheduling the band Floodwater for a later date since they were unable to play for the event.)  Then on Sunday, June 13, 2021, our Bishop, Edward Rice, celebrated Mass with us outdoors under a tent.  The Bishop blessed us with a written blessing which now hangs in the foyer of our church.  After Mass, as a community, we had an old-fashioned picnic with delicious food and desserts, a bounce house, and fun-filled games.   Thank you to all who attended both the Ice Cream Social and Mass and the Old Fashioned Picnic!   May God continue to bless this Diamond Jubilee Year and the years to come!
