Seven Last Words of Christ: The Second Word
We adore You, Oh Christ, and we bless You, for by Your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
The noble tree of the cross stands in the midst of paradise. By a tree we were enslaved; by a tree we are set free.
Glory be to Jesus,
who in bitter pains
poured for me the lifeblood
from his sacred veins!
Grace and life eternal
in that blood I find,
blest be his compassion
infinitely kind!
Blest through endless ages
be the precious stream
which for sin and sorrow
does the world redeem.
Lift now then your voices;
swell the might flood;
louder still and louder
praise the Precious Blood.
Let us Pray...
Merciful Savior,
and friend of the human race,
you heard the repentant plea
of the criminal on your right hand
and promised him paradise for his faith.
As we are dying in the midst of our sins,
let us hear this same word from your lips
in response to our prayer of faith
and the life-giving power of your holy sacraments.
Blest be your undying mercy,
now and forever.
Amen
