Seven Last Words of Christ: The Sixth Word
We adore You, Oh Christ, and we bless You, for by Your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
Reign from the noble tree of the cross, and establish the reign of God in our hearts.
Glory be to Jesus,
who in bitter pains
poured for me the lifeblood
from his sacred veins!
Grace and life eternal
in that blood I find,
blest be his compassion
infinitely kind!
Blest through endless ages
be the precious stream
which for sin and sorrow
does the world redeem.
Lift now then your voices;
swell the might flood;
louder still and louder
praise the Precious Blood.
They have pierced my hands and my feet and lay me in the dust of death.
Merciful Savior,
and friend of the human race,
as darkness closed in on you,
you gave a loud cry,
bowed your head, and died.
By your perfect surrender to the Father,
make us worthy disciples of the cross
and defend us from our spiritual enemies,
now and forever.
Amen
